The Migishi Kotaro Museum of Art
Experience the world of Kotaro Migishi in a museum tucked away in a garden full of trees.
The exhibition focuses on the work of Kotaro Migishi (1903-34), a Sapporo-born artist who passed through the history of modern Western-style painting in Japan like a meteor and died at the age of 31. The museum opened in 1967, when 220 of his works were donated to Hokkaido by his bereaved family. Over the years, the museum has taken on its current form, keeping the image of an artist's studio. The museum is loved by art lovers for its unique and poetic works and the peaceful atmosphere. Music concerts are also held several times a year in connection with Migishi’s representative work, Orchestra.
